Weird French combination of live action and cheap CGI presents some cool ideas, but needed a better script to help convey them. Still unusual enough to be worth checking out.

Occasionally pretty but mostly dull. There's the basis of an interesting story in here somewhere but the film doesn't seem interested in telling it. Visually the city looks amazing, but it's inhabited by an odd mix of real actors and terrifyingly bad CGI humans. The contrast is so jarring that it will annoy you each and every time, and pull you right out of any sense of immersion you might have had in the world. Blue alien girl is pretty, but that's really the only good thing in this.

This CGI was just camp! That was kind a funny. Why I rate this film so low is because I could not relate to man who has constantly to fight his inner rapist. So its like illustration to Deida: http://www.deida.info/books/way-superior-man

Spacy sci-fi undone by computer-game-cut-scene CGI. Sci-fi Art-film is a genre so frail and dependent on beautiful imagery. This movie didn't have the budget to pull it off.

Terrible CGI, and some of the CGI-actors could easily have been replaced by real ones. The story has very little of the atmosphere from the books, although some scenes have some atmosphere wort speaking of.

I don't even know where to begin with this. It was certainly an interesting world that was created but the plot, the characters, the structure, and everything else was all a mess. They built storylines and never finished them. They showed us things and never explained them...Just, what? Also, what a non-thrilling protagonist Thomas Pollard's character is.

Quite interesting world one's introduced to, but story itself lacks depth. Miss France with blue hair, nice to look at. Has a nice concept of symbiosis between real and rendered persons/faces, but the CGI is extremely flaky, low-budget (and most certainly not what's to be expected from French animation companies considering the quality of their amateur short films).

I wish there was another 30 minutes of story in Immortel to flush out the blind spots. I also wish they had used real actors for everyone instead of the CG characters. Had both of these happened, this would definitely rate 10. Both the pacing and most especially the CG characters were bad decisions which hurt the movie. But even having these detractors, there is enough of Immortel to make this a MUST SEE for any cyberpunk fan (and for god sakes, get the graphic novel if you haven’t already!).

Really, don't release a movie if your primary computer graphics look like PlayStation2 in-game cinemas. I mean, the ones rendered with the game's own graphic engine. Also, the plot is all over the place, the characters are all unlikeable, and by the end you wish the universe would just die.

Even without having read the graphic novel I can safely say I enjoyed the idea/story. The combination of real actors with CGI was jarring til the end, and pulled me away from the story, but overall it was a decent pseudo-philosophical movie.

the computer animation is extremely uneven; sometimes impressing, sometimes appalling. the story is hard to understand and has some annoying plot holes, but is generally well recieved and interesting. i cant say anything either bad or good about the acting.

A mess. You don't often hear about post-millenial releases looking outright dated, but Immortel has aged quickly and terribly; the CGI characters are embarrassing to look at. There's not a ton going on in terms of story, and what little does happen is either laughable, incomprehensible or underwhelming due to a complete lack of build up. Could have been pretty cool if everything about it wasn't kind of awful. Well, except for Linda Hardy, who succeeds in being purdy.
