The story (after Philip K. Dick) alone makes this worth watching. Acting (mainly by Sinise) is good. D'Onofrio fits the role of the detective. There is enough suspense and sci-fi ambiance. I haven't read Impostor but I have read a couple of Dick novels and have watched a couple of adaptations, including Blade Runner, and there was nothing in this that pissed me off. I enjoyed it in a way similar to reading a Dick story. Sort of a minor Minority Report with an almost TV movie feel.

Badly written and a lot of miscasts. Sinise was pretty convincing with what the script offered.

I like the story and as with all Philip Dick, just read it instead. The short version of the movie (30 minutes or so) on the DVD is more or less sufficient.

PKD's novel is way better, and this is in the bottom of the pack of the onward growing repertoire of PKD stories made into movies!

Solid enough sci-fi thriller, but if you've seen any other Philip K Dick-based movie (Blade Runner or Minority Report) then you've already seen this. Gary Sinise is always underrated and he does the best he can with the lead role. The plot plods along steadily and the action is competent but there's really no surprises in store here. Even the final 'twist' is so obvious it can be seen from sapce.

Over directed but passable thriller that leaves far too many questions unanswered, and not in that good way a more competent effort might have you contemplating weighty themes after the credits have rolled. This isn't for lack of trying - Impostor repeatedly attempts to ask the viewer just what it is that defines man - but there aren't nearly enough moments of reflection to be had, what with all those dystopian future cops to run away from.

The original concept here - as the DVD extras revealed - was to adapt three Philip K Dick stories into short films and release all three as a single feature. The original short version, included on the DVD, is a much tighter story and shows where the script was simply padded to make it longer. In fact I think everything added to the feature-length version just makes it worse. If you are a fan of PKD adaptations, just watch the short film - it's closer to his short story anyway.
