Nothing original or interesting here at all. I know that because I only saw this about three years ago and can't remember a single detail about it.

The Tall Man popping up made this kind of worth it. Not really, though.

Gut-wrenchingly pathetic attempt at slasher horror with a remarkably not-frightening 'monster' and a random crazy old guy who seemed to be tossed in for the sake of having a crazy old guy in the flick. It's not that the ending was predictable enough, they had to go one step further and have an 'explanation scene' tacked on to the last 5 minutes. The flick would have gotten another 20 points from me if they ended it with her opening the trunk and let the viewer piece together the rest.

I have yet to read the source material, but I think this does some justice to Joe Lansdale's writing (I LOVE Joe Lansdale, BTW). Lots of bone dry and pitch black humor; martial arts fetishism, redneck deadpan, naked liberal agenda, extreme violence/gore and a pace that could be described as caffeinated. If this was testing Don's ability to accurately adapt his buddy's writing, then it's successful (I haven't seen Bubba Ho Tep yet). Most importantly, above any other quality, it's fun to watch.

Ew, yuck. The "Masters of Horror" series gets off to a highly inauspicious beginning with Don Coscarelli, who I would hesitate to call even an Apprentice of Horror. At least _Phantasm_ was genuinely weird; this is just another variation on _The Texas Chainsaw Massacre_, which I didn't like very much the first time, either. The Big Plot Twist (which isn't even contrived very well) only makes all this even more unpleasant

The best of the MOH series. The parallel structure works well, giving just enough insight into the characters - and a decent twist/suckerpunch at the end. Oh, and nothing is scarier than married rape. Coscarelli needs to do more film work.

It's not bad at all, but it never feels very special -- except for maybe when we get to see Angus Scrimm in a horror film again.

A good introduction to the Masters of Horror series. This offering is just long enough to develop the main character and give us an entertaining little story.

It's entertaining and really well done altogether, but altogether it's just a standard slasher short.

this is not the first time coscarelli has done horror right, and i hope it isn't the last, he has such a bare work list that it saddens me that the same man who directed phantasm has done so little since. don makes a great horror movie, the protagonist isn't a helpless little girl who's only merit is a pretty face, and the flashbacks actually pay off.

A concept that has already bitten the dust, boring characters, horrible script and a very poor execution overall. I was curious when I heard about the 'Masters of Horror' series, but I fail to see where is this going.
