Summary: Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls. (imdb)
I'm absolutely amazed what a great film it actually is. Although people might spot some faults about it, I don't really care because watching it was fun. It was a thrilling action packed blockbuster with perfect ending.
i should have given more points to this flick considering that it had some pretty good heart pounding action sequences and the fact that George can still kick some arse should be pretty uplifting...but i have some basic problem with steven spielberg and his way of showing i-am-a-white-american-and-i-am-better-than-all-africans-asians-who-are-all-animals.. basically i am still pissed wid his "temple of doom" and even here he has to rack up the soviets-are-pigs mentality..sad!
Complete with 3-D special effects and complex stunts not available in the previous films, Indiana Jones returns; and although it's lost some of its charm in the twenty-first century, it nonetheless is a worthy cinematic experience. While the acting near the beginning of this movie is laughable at best, as the movie progresses, it seems that the characters become more and more believable. Some may object the the extra-terrestrial nature, but I had no issue. Not as good as the others, but not bad.
Dr. Jones might be getting old, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still have it. Despite the best sabotage efforts of George Lucas, this film still turned out to be an easy, breezy, enjoyable summer movie experience.
Not even close to the other movies in the series. It was entertaining at times, but they ham fisted so many things into this film that I almost felt insulted at times. The scene in the warehouse with the ark was awful. The scene where he was swinging through the jungle was the worst. Anyway, it was fun at times.
"Indiana Mulder and the Revenge of the CGI-Demon" One thumb down for story, effects and characters, one up a bit for "there is an Indiana feeling sometimes".
Pretty much right smack dab in between Raiders and Temple of Doom. But that still makes it good enough that I'll be glad to embrace this as part of the Indiana Jones saga. Yes, the ending was bizarre, but the rest of the movie was quite good fun. Ford steps neatly back into the role as if he'd been rehearsing for his return ever since Last Crusade.
None of the characters were really convincing (Ford is too old for this) and the dialogues were laughably bad. At times, I didn't know if John Hurt was playing a retard or a mental patient, and no wait, yep monkeys fighting the russians, and last but not least: is that a spaceship ? Cut to my mind: "that's it, I'm outta here". Shame on you Lucas for making a profit seeking film and I can't believe I'm gonna say this but Spielberg lost it (btw I loved the 1st and 3rd one). Sadly disappointed...
Very disappointing compared to the previous three. If this was just an ordinary action/adventure movie I may have rated this higher, but after all that hype and wait, for Spielberg to come out with something as mediocre as this, isn't forgivable. I expect nothing but class from the Indy franchise, and this doesn't give me that.
I've softened a bit towards Crystal Skull since hating it when I first saw it. I could get into the obnoxious CGI animals and the ending, but really, the main problem with this movie is that it wasn't made 15 years earlier. Because Harrison Ford's aged so much, they had to bring Indy into the fifties, and everything that implied (aliens included). Unfortunately, he's a character who belongs in the time of the Republic Serials that inspired the movies; in 50s sci-fi movies, he's out of place.
It's strange, from a detached point of view the elements are all there, and yet it doesn't come together all that well. Ford is just too old and while he's fun to watch his struggles become really apparent at times. The story is not bad, but the best way to describe it, and the whole film really, is underwhelming.
Entertaining but clearly lacking the magic of the previous installments. The new characters are mostly bland and forgettable (Blanchett is pretty good though), old characters like Marian aren't developed or used in an interesting way, and the plot is silly and confusing, even for an Indiana Jones movie. There were some nice action sequences, though, and it's nowhere near as bad as, say, the first two Star Wars prequels.
