Inglourious Basterds The action tale follows the parallel story of a guerilla-like squad of American soldiers called "The Basterds" and the French Jewish teenage girl Shosanna who find themselves behind enemy Nazi lines during the German occupation. When the Inglourious Basterds encounter Shosanna at a propaganda screening at the movie house she runs, they conspire to launch an unexpected plot to end the war. Pitt plays Lieutenant Aldo Raine--the leader of the Basterds. Raine is an illiterate hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee who puts together a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers to hunt down the Nazis. Buy it Now!

"That's a bingo!" Tarantino makes movies like no other director working (in the mainstream at least). The way in which he does away with exposition and weeds out typical causal links, in order to focus on the microscopic details is awesome. One 20-25 min. consistently well-written conversation follows the next, with an amazing sense of the cool and comic, ironic and iconic. Realism obviously goes out the window within seconds, but is instantly replaced with badassery from another planet.

What a great movie. I'm blown away. The script is excellent, the acting is incredible (especially Aldo and the Jew Hunter), and the whole thing is just enjoyable. The scene where Aldo is speaking EYEtalian is so so great. Wouldn't have minded more Basterd backstory though. Overall, one of the best of 2009 and of this century.

QT's theme-meshing is overrated and becoming predictably signature. He stole quite a bit from Sergio Leone's "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" in his opening chapter. First frame shows a man chopping wood on the horizon, reminiscent of "Unforgiven". Brad Pitt's chin was doing too much of his acting. Dialogue was great. The overkill Nazi scenes bugged me, simply because he was abusing the notion that you always have license to do so when dealing with Nazi's. Not on Pulp Fiction's level, at all.

Really needed more Basterd's screentime. Great flick, even if I did go into it thinking it would have more action.

In my humble opinion Tarantino's films have been slightly or significantly worse than the last one ever since Reservoir Dogs. (I know, I'm all alone on this.) This was true without fail until now. Inglourious Basterds is unquestionably it's his third best film. I'm going to have to see it again to see whether or not it's actually better than Pulp Fiction, which I'm currently on the fence about. [Second viewing.] I still don't know if it's better than Pulp Fiction, but it's damned close.

Two super-cool scenes (opening and basement), some funny inventive moments (e.g. speaking italian), and cool music. But it's a bit like "some cool scenes that have been picked out of a larger story that we're not really all that concerned with." The overall plot is neither taut nor all that engaging.

Basterds has some truly jaw dropping, laugh out loud and cringe worthy moments that you won't soon forget. Over time this will become a classic that will made example of for the right reasons. Christoph Waltz particularly shines in one of the most awe inspiring casts who together produce some of the best lines you will hear in film. Fluently blends genres to create the ultimate extravaganza.

Seriously, what can I say that hasn't been said? It was fantastic. I love the structure, I love how it looks, I think he chose his subjects well, and it's exactly the kind of war movie I like, in that it's about what else was happening during the war. Just bloody brilliant.

The Basterds were the best part of the movie and yet they felt like side-plot. Prepare for the normal Tarantino dialogue-a-thon that is as usual hit-and-miss. The first scene being the biggest hit (probably my favorite Tarantino scene to date). Christoph Waltz is fantastic and everyone else plays their part well (except BJ Novak who was lifeless and Mike Myers who was out of place). Worth a watch if you are a big Tarantino fan, but don't go in expecting any sort of historical validity.

"Jewish revenge porn?" I can't see anybody finding titillation in the events depicted. No, this is just a work so blisteringly amoral, so averse to drawing a moral line or creating a single irreproachable character, that it, in the vein of A Clockwork Orange, is genuinely upsetting. Less a revenge flick than one questioning the concept's very validity, it shows differentiating between travesties committed in the name of intolerance, nationality, vengeance, opportunism is akin to splitting hairs.

I put this flick on a pedestal for 2009. Yes, it's Quentin jacking off from start to finish, but he put a decade into this, give him his tune on the ol' piss pipe. Only reason I knock this flick down is, it does drag in places for those who are anti-tons-of-dialogue/subtitles. There's enough action to keep the pace for my taste, though. Absolutely LOVED the Quentin-Aldo tangent with the "masterpieces". The film's opening is worth the ticket price without doubt; Waltz, meet my good friend Oscar.

Well I don't regret making an exception to my Nazi movie boycott for this tongue-in-cheek piece. It does not disappoints as a Tarantino movie, actually visually and acting-wise it is much stronger than some others.I enjoyed it, not immensely, but have nothing to say against it.

This is just retarded. This movie is everything people accused Death Proof of being (which is wasn't). It's all over the place, and not in Tarantiono's usual, stylish way but just messy. Was there a story? I don't know. I definitely did not care about one watching it. When, and why, did this happen to Tarantino?
