Inglourious Basterds The action tale follows the parallel story of a guerilla-like squad of American soldiers called "The Basterds" and the French Jewish teenage girl Shosanna who find themselves behind enemy Nazi lines during the German occupation. When the Inglourious Basterds encounter Shosanna at a propaganda screening at the movie house she runs, they conspire to launch an unexpected plot to end the war. Pitt plays Lieutenant Aldo Raine--the leader of the Basterds. Raine is an illiterate hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee who puts together a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers to hunt down the Nazis. Buy it Now!

Wildly entertaining, funny and gory, but maybe will work only for Tarantino lovers. Brad Pitt is just as I expected, however, the highlight acting here is held by Cannes Festival winner, Christoph Waltz.

would have given this movie an 85 on technique, but was totally creeped out by people in the audience cheering at the typical QT crazy over the top violence. BP, though he remains pretty, did a great job. imho

Christoph Waltz really deserves best supporting actor for this. The trailers made me a little worried about IB and that it didn't seem like it would feel like a true Tarantino film, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was VERY much a Tarantino film. The dialogue is written and performed almost to perfection.

Tarantino does history. Well, that's new. While chapters 1 and 3 give this movie some depth (at times almost disguising it as a "proper" WWII film), sections 2, 4 and 5 serve us the ultimate Tarantino experience. What's more to say to this Pulp Fiction of the '40s: Brad Pitt is great as a "Tennessee dead-butch" and casting Christoph Waltz = Bingo!

Tarantino is at the top of his game. Though all of his movies have contained numerous memorable scenes, none of them have attained the level of intensity of many in this movie. The opening scene, the bar scene, the strudel scene, the buildup to the (very satisfying) climax; they all make the pulse race and glue the eyes to the screen. Furthermore, the movie is hilariously irreverent, beautifully shot, and wonderfully acted (I hope Waltz gets an Oscar). This might be Tarantino's masterpiece.

Typical Taratino fare in a good way. Great dialogue and suspense. The advertising is misleading though. The trailers portray the film as a shoot 'em up style action film about a squad of Jewish American cold blooded killers wreaking havoc on the Nazi's. Yes, this is in the movie but it only encompasses about 1/5th of the film. Yet, even though I was saddened by the small mount of action I must say the other components of the film are just as enjoyable. Pitt and Waltz are on top of their game.

"Jewish revenge porn?" I can't see anybody finding titillation in the events depicted. No, this is just a work so blisteringly amoral, so averse to drawing a moral line or creating a single irreproachable character, that it, in the vein of A Clockwork Orange, is genuinely upsetting. Less a revenge flick than one questioning the concept's very validity, it shows differentiating between travesties committed in the name of intolerance, nationality, vengeance, opportunism is akin to splitting hairs.

Everyone knows Tarantino = Pulp Fiction. But I believe, that it will be Tarantino = Inglorious Basterds after few years. This film is as good as you expect it to be. You can feel Tarantino in dialogues, you can see him in the screenplay, still - you will like it even if you don´t like his work.

Tarantino comes really really really close to topping Pulp Fiction with this one. It's exciting, suspenseful, funny....to put it simply I was blown away. Actually, it's definitely on par with PF, though I'm not sure if I like one or the other better.

A very entertaining film and QT's best in a long while. The dialog scenes that end in bloody violence are outstanding and hit like a hammer. The obnoxious posturing that has plagued QT's last few films is unfortunately present, but unlike those films, this one actually has something to say. Recommended.

While the opening scene is brilliant as well as some other dialogues, it doesn't hide the fact that the group of soldiers calling themselves "inglourious basterds" hardly kill anybody and really have no role to play plotwise. Couple that with overacting (like Brad Pitt) and this movie is kinda laughable. Still entertaining though.

Tarantino has crafted this movie so perfectly, with such brilliant, engrossing characters and such an overarching mood that any flaws it might have are irrelevant. There are guidelines to filmmaking, but Tarantino has proven that if you're good enough, the guidelines don't apply to you.

Hadn't seen one image yet in the cinema and by the music and intro you just know: this is Tarantino, and hell yeah we've seen that troughout the entire movie! Quick and sparkling dialogues and action, some disgustingly detailed snapshots, his own amazingly clever and hilarious moments (goddamn Brad pitt speaking Italian was brilliant, and the scene with the sac over his head.. unbelievable) and a more than worthy performance by everyone playing in this film! Great film, great humor, great action!

Quintessentially Tarantino. Ordinarily, I perhaps wouldn't consider that to be a good thing; in this case, though, it really works. "Inglorious" effortlessly blends a thousand genres and references, tightly spun around a plot that's as barmy as it is entertaining. There's no morality to be found here, but who cares? It's tense, it's exciting, it's hilarious, and at times it's so over-the-top it becomes a pastiche of a pastiche of a pastiche. Excellent fun.

Basterds adheres pretty strictly to the Tarantino formula (both stylistically and script-wise) but there are some amazing performances and the first scene alone is worth the ticket price.

nothing like pulp fiction. this was chaptered and filled with long dialogue but apart from hans landa, every character is boring and you cant wait for them to die.

Pretty intense, and a grappling story. The violence was a bit much for me though, but the acting (the character of Hans Landa, for example) was superb.

The build-and-release here is amazing, although it could have very well used a few more aforementioned releases.

This is not particularly good filmmaking. The plot is really just an excuse to show blood. Some decent acting, but no justification for such a ridiculously long runtime. Many of the scenes just drag on and on and on and on oh my god. But people love popular brand names, and Tarantino is a brand that people feel they are supposed to like, for some reason. Is this supposed to be some kind of jewish wet dream or what.

I expected a great movie which would be a bit too long. In the end, the length was the least of its problems... Probably the biggest disappointment of the year.
