Intriguing, provocative consideration of a hypothetical meeting between Einstein and Monroe, as DiMaggio and Sen. McCarthy circle the outskirts. Dominated by Russell's incredible evocation of Monroe, and Emil's underplayed Einstein. Curtis also successfully captures all of McCarthy's "sweaty charm". Roeg's fever-dream direction enhances dream-like story; love Monroe's explanation of the theory of realativity! Another completely original film from always daring director Roeg.

A thematically sprawling work. I haven't been a fan of Roeg at all, but there is something that draws you in to this film, asking you to sort it out and piece it together. The problem is, I don't think it can be pieced together. It's messy. The story flits from one idea to another, too busy trying to cram them all in to make them resonate. And I had big problems with the performances. There are at least two fantastic scenes, but taking the film as a whole, it's just too all over the place.

Insignificance loses it's appeal very quickly (right after Monroe explains special relativity to Einstein in a seductive way xD). The script is far too generic for this flashy idea. Roeg's psychoanalytic flashbacks -which are his forte in other cases- are stupid. Hardly memorable.
