Touching from the very first frame, with a ton of great laughs convincingly delivered by a charming Omar Sy. The chemistry between Driss and Phillipe cannot be bought for money - A highly recommendable film wich I sat through with one big smile on my face...

Just look at the poster of this film. Call me cynical, but there is nothing real, nothing true or honest in this film. In fact it made me sick the same way looking at fake smiles on journal covers does.

Grabbed me in its opening scene and I'd hoped the film would continue in that vein but it couldn't seem to liberate itself from the constraints of formula later on. There was no conflict for me to latch onto and as I would expect from a crowd-pleaser (cf. The King's Speech (*barf*)), assumes you'll embrace it unconditionally (I hate that...) regardless of it lacking in character development. That said, Sy's gift for humour lit up the screen and was responsible for many of the film's laughs.

Drama with some good funny moments. Beginning was quite promising yet nothing really shocking happened throughout entire movie. Somehow only jokes were driving whole plot and some family issues. And even latter weren't developed as much as I expected. This and predictable end left me a bit unsatisfied.

Annoyingly simplistic and patronising, despite a few moments of irreverent humour. Sy is pretty charming but I didn't buy Cluzet's character at all. Like the nauseating tinkly piano score, the film is trying oh-so hard to warm your heart but left me cold.

Unabashedly mainstream, like the feel-good Hollywood movies of the 90's (the two leads are very much the Eddie Murphy-type and the Dustin Hoffman-type). The shallowness of the film is highlighted by how it brushes aside the social issues of the French ghettos: the parallels between Philippe's physical handicap and Driss' social handicap are hinted at but never really tackled at any depth. But what it does well -- depicting the friendship and chemistry between the two -- it does so joyfully.

It's often hard not to smile and by all means, smile! Both leads are very charming especially Omar Sy but once again I became pretty disappointed going to the movies. At least it's better than fucking Hunger Games... still it's all very formulaic and I'm far from impressed with the directing overall. Score by Einaudi basically hampers all emotional moments. Naive and adolescent in its style and relies awfully lot on Sy and when he doesn't deliver there isn't much left.

This reminded me of a Lifetime movie they play on weekend matinees. Two people with different backgrounds somehow interact and become the best of friends. There are so many cheap laughs and those silly montage-like gags where it's one quick throwaway joke after another. Of course the troubled young kid is also good looking and can dance, and I'll give Omar Sy credit. Both leads do a fine job, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a lazy movie that's been done a thousand times.

Unfortunately for this viewer, THE UPSIDE planted its flag first - this is still an enjoyable if too leisurely buddy-movie which never really digs into the class (and race relation) ideas that it timidly raises - using a character's sexuality as an awkward payoff to a laboured running gag is another detriment. Cluzet and Sy work well together, but don't share the same chemistry of Cranston and Hart in the remake. Hard to tell if this would get a higher score without the remake so fresh in mind.

A very funny movie, very entertaining and the chemistry between the two protagonists is just lovable to watch. That it is based on a true story makes the movie more adorable. However, the social criticism which is hinted at the beginning of the movie is lost throughout and only solved mediocrately if solved at all.

I really enjoyed this lighthearted French comedy! Francois Cluzet and Omar Sy were such an awesome pair. I laughed at so many parts of this movie. One of my favorite scenes is when Sy is shaving Cluzet's face and makes his facial hair into all these really funny shapes like a Village People beard and Hitler's little mustache. I smiled so many times and just had a really great time. I can see why this is the most successful French film of all time. I may have to check out more French films.

Though not as insulting as say The Blind Side, The Intouchables, with its saccharine stuffy white character meets manic pixie black dude narrative, is in the same ball bark, saved only by the fact Cluzet and Sy are leagues above Bullock and Aaron in the acting department.

Intouchables is a good film that, despite brief bursts of comedic energy, lingers in a subdued dramatic tone that resists excitement. Having already seen The Upside 2 years earlier, I prefer it as it leans more towards the comedy. Cluzet & Sy are good, but they play it too straight. Most the film's conflict comes from their characters' families; the aspect I found least interesting. Einaudi's score is immediately recognisable, but it often detracts from whatever is going on onscreen.

This could have easily been a weepy schmaltz fest, but the filmmakers' sensitivity, generous doses of humour and a memorable acting duet benefit the film a great deal. "Intouchables" still isn't the most original or nuanced picture you'll ever see, but it's enjoyable, touching and it admirably manages to abstain from melodrama during the course of its easy-going 110 minutes.

I wish some of the more minor characters had a little more development, but the two main characters work so well together that I could really watch a whole movie composed entirely of the two of them. They have great dialogue together, and it manages to be both very funny and very tasteful, which is pretty rare. It was so funny, I very quickly thought "There's no way this will turn out to not be a tear-jerker at the end." I guess I shouldn't spoil anything in that regard.

I can't remember a scene in the movie that would really stand out, but I suppose what made the movie really interesting to me was simply the flowing, cute French narrative and the chemistry between the main actors. relatively good movie but not good enough to make me watch it twice.. I liked it and it made me laugh, there are dialogs which in movies now days lack, since they dont say a single intelligent/wit/interesting sentence the whole movie. Now days the special affect are miracolous, but the dialogs are moronic.

A strong dose of good humour, hope and faith (not in the religious way) that everything can be better with the right attitude. The story goes very smoothly and the viewer is completely indulged in it. It's labelled as a comedy & drama type, but a comedy surely dominates.

Formulaic, but as far as that goes it works extremely well. The characters are very well drawn, thanks in great part to the wonderful performances, and it's really fun to spend two hours with these two guys. The script is pretty funny and the heavy underlying themes are treated fairly, though in a distanced and simplified way. Nothing to be blown away by, but it avoids the biggest pitfalls of the style and hits all the marks expertly.

A beautiful, powerful movie that is set to stay with me for weeks. It's a crowd-pleaser, but it's a crowd-pleaser in the greatest sense of the word; a movie that truly earns catharsis and emotional impact, rather than getting syrupy and mawkish for the sake of it. A huge hit in its native France, and it's not hard to see why. It's the sort of inspirational comedy-drama that, when done right, manages to be engaging and touching, corny though it may be. And it IS corny...but it's also done right. Omar Sy, as the life-loving caretaker, is charming and believable; Francois Cluzet, as his patient, is a bit one-note (he uses the same look of quiet amusement a bit too often), but he does all right. Well written and directed; at two hours just a shade overlong.

Let's be honest, we've all seen this movie a thousand times. So why does this work so well? Well, for me at least, it was the fantastic performances and chemistry between the two leads. The humour works very well too, I must have laughed nearly the whole time.

It should have been called Unnaturals instead. For me this movie failed to achieve everything it tried to. A few laughs scattered to and fro, surface emotions, deep shallowness, naïve, no complex thought whatsoever. Imagine two people so out of their comfort zone: could have been a drama, but it drifted past all the conflicting points; could have been a comedy, if not for unmemorable jokes. The only question it raises is: 'so what?'

It's a fun, well-thought-out culture clash comedy which turns into a buddy movie... the feelgood hit of the year if you like. I thought it was decent entertainment but maybe not worthy of all the hype. Omar Sy brings a lot of screen presence and Cluzet plays the straight guy well too. Their chemistry together is good and without it this movie would bomb. But, it played safe and I would have liked to see the writers go one step further, either in outrageous surrealism or in emotional resonance.

A heartwarming tale of how a rich white aristocrat finds love and solace in the comfort of his black manservant from the ghetto who teaches him the more soulful points of life. What a fine tale if it were the 1950's. Francois Cluzet looks like a French Dustin Hoffman at certain angles and that's amusing. I don't know what's going on in France but a pitch to studios like this shouldn't even be interesting in a society which often claims to have a superior comprehension of race relations.
