how freaking awesome was that final fight????

I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed this considerably more that its predecessor. It had me cracking up! I don't know if much of the comedy was intentional, but I enjoyed it. It may have lots of cheese & a terrible script, but there's loads here to enjoy: Pantomime English villains (something I always love!), Sammo Law fighting shit, more from Karl Urban's Oriental double Siu-Wong Fan, and watch out for the ugliest baby ever! Fights are a little more elborate and staged, but not unenjoyably so.

Still a solid martial arts film with a couple of really memorable fight sequences, but the character development is weak all around and the film as whole gets very heavyhanded.

An average movie looks like the writers tried to score another one after the incredible reviews received for the prequel. They did not fail miserably, but yeah they did fail.

It's pretty much a martial arts take on Rocky 2 and 4, but it's so enjoyable! So well-written and though it may not be as good as the first, that's only because the first film set a bar so incredibly high! Donnie Yen never fails!

The fighting sequences are not on a par with those in the first movie from 2008. That is not the worst part, however; the impossibly wooden acting from the Western actors made their scenes positively cringeworthy. Also, the story of this sequel is even more predictable than the first movie's. Good for fans of Ip Man. If the first one left you unimpressed, don't go near this one.

Though not quite as spectacular as in the first film, the martial arts scenes are very well-done and, frankly, pretty damn cool. I really like the cinematography in these films - they give a really nice old and authentic feel. Not the most unconventional of movies, but an entertaining and sincere experience nonetheless.

Better than the first film. Better action and fight scenes. If you like the first one, you should definately see this one.

Crap. Greedy capitalization on the success of the first title in this series. This is plagued with inferior production values, awful fight sequences and a childish plot. Not Recommended.

I enjoyed this one even more than the first. I note with interest all of the critics who knock this and the first IP MAN for its nationalistic fervor -- but hey, how many American pictures can you think of that do the same thing, only ten times worse? Why is it only bad when the Chinese do it?

The applause that IP man received from the Westerns and his jogging to his house was pretty lame. The script of the English speaking peeps was idiotic as well. And I can't say I enjoyed to watch IP man getting a beating from an overmuscled, overzealous idiot just to recall some scripts from the past and fight like a reborn man. I watch Rocky when I wish to see this kind of stuff. Still, all the negativity pulls the movie to my mid tiers as there is pretty decent fights deserving an applause.

Sorta interesting to see how mangled western boxing history is - slutty ring girls and guys wrapped in flags in the 40s! It's like a glimpse into how western martial arts films must look in Asia.

Awesome kung fu throughout with an all star cast, including Fan Siu Wong, Fung Hark On, Lo Meng and Kent Cheng! Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung are both incredibly fast, and their lengthy fight is the highlight of the film. Sammo's Wing Chun choreography is still the best there is, and uses a minimum of wirework.

Charismatic martial arts teacher highly skilled and a pleasure to watch. His quiet strength is quite impressive. His students are immature trouble makers, but his opponents students are even worse. Caught up in a corrupt system, he maintains his dignity by keeping his principles and holding his own with every opponent.

great sequel but this was more of the first movie.... clipped off 10 points for not trying something a little different
