Fights are cool but the rest of the movie is hard to tolerate. Bad directing (outside of fight scenes), bad acting and an altogether 100% predictable movie.

Rocky IV in Mandarin

An average movie looks like the writers tried to score another one after the incredible reviews received for the prequel. They did not fail miserably, but yeah they did fail.

Still a solid martial arts film with a couple of really memorable fight sequences, but the character development is weak all around and the film as whole gets very heavyhanded.

Haven't seen Sammo Hung in quite some time. He and Donnie Yen were a good combo. These types of films still get on my nerves, yeah we get it, the British/Americans are the bad guys. It really felt like wrestling, they go out of their way in every aspect to make sure you know you shouldn't like them.

I like that Donnie Yen always seems so disappointed in you while he's beating your face in.

While at times it feels a little to close to a Rocky movie without the overuse of montages, Ip Man knows how to keep the blood pumping with inspired one on ones. I just wish the ending battle hadn't been so contrived, no one has time for deep soul searching when they're getting the blood pummeled out of them.

It's pretty much a martial arts take on Rocky 2 and 4, but it's so enjoyable! So well-written and though it may not be as good as the first, it is still one of my favorite M.A. films!

Whereas Ip Man 1 successfully combined martial arts with a serious character-driven storyline, this sequel has no clue what it wants to be. The tone is very serious but there is no sign of proper characters or dialogue. Despite some spectacular set pieces, the fight scenes soon become boring and poorly choreographed with little creativity. The schlocky Van-Damme-slash-Rocky-esque finale is welcome comic relief but turns the film into a huge unintended propaganda-like farce. An Ip too far.

Awesome kung fu throughout with an all star cast, including Fan Siu Wong, Fung Hark On, Lo Meng and Kent Cheng! Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung are both incredibly fast, and their lengthy fight is the highlight of the film. Sammo's Wing Chun choreography is still the best there is, and uses a minimum of wirework.

Crap. Greedy capitalization on the success of the first title in this series. This is plagued with inferior production values, awful fight sequences and a childish plot. Not Recommended.

Descent Kung Fu Flick,with a bit too much pathos and partial "good and bad" role allocation, but with great fighting scenes. A good sequel, that honors the great IP-MAN, who created the world famous martial art style wing tsun.
