An entertaining film elevated by the performances of the great cast, specifically Zach Galifiankis who puts in a performance worthy of an Oscar nomination.

Lame writing, lame directing and wasted potential. The Under Pressure bit was way funnier on Late World with Zach.

Once you get it out of your heads that a movie with Zach-G has to be a comedy, and stop being disappointed by the fact that this movie is not trying to be a comedy despite the title, I think your rankings would raise. There ARE some funny parts in there that attempt to save the comedy-philes ("She try and make sex in my bed!"). And typically, dramedies try to push more comedy than drama. It's nice to see things from the other side. So, I'm not with you guys on this one. This movie was excellent.

it's kind of a boring movie

Too neat and easy, but whatever, I would follow Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden to the ends of the Earth.

Not very much humor in this film at all, and unfortunately, the protagonist is the least interesting character in the film.

....came in well under the radar, mostly because the trailers don't represent it well at all. It isn't a Nurse Ratchet, I-don't-belong-here, get in but can't get out situation. The shrink is really good, and the other patients are as much a part of the therapy (and the story) as the staff. It's the way a psych ward is supposed to work. Zach Galifianakis is his usual great self, providing much of the humor as well as the drama. Only neg, the projectile vomiting.

unfortunately cheesy ending.

I was concerned about this film at first, as I really enjoyed the book a lot. However, despite the changes, this film really pulls its weight, and is changed for the better in some ways. However, the film rushes into Craig's depression without much explanation and makes him look like a spoilt whiny brat just after some pills. I had mixed feelings about the Under Pressure scene at first, but now I enjoy it more and more each time I watch the film.

Way too much happens in the 5 or so days that Gilchrist is in the hospital. If you get past that, the writing is fairly good and the performances are sincere and compelling.

Privileged white kid learns to solve his problems with the help of a manic pixie psycho ward. But Galifinakis is p. good.

Yes, 0. It was that bad. Worst of 2010. The problem is not that it wasn't funny, the problem is that everything about it is insultingly stupid and annoying.

An unlikely misstep from Boden and Fleck, this film lacks both the dynamic sensibility and emotional heft of their previous efforts. It is buoyed in parts via Galifianakis and the light tone however the overall story of the protagonist is completely inconsequential and forgettable.
