This movie thinks it's clever. It isn't.

Though it sounds like the most craven of clones, this bears scant resemblance to _Time After Time_. The plot twists in an entirely different direction, into contempo thriller rather than gory gothic horror turf. And for a time, the pic generates considerable tension and surprise. While this gradually grows too convoluted for its own good and fails to approach Meyer's 1979 variation, the film is very much worth a look.
