The hypocrisy is thrown up on the screen in a simple yet profound way. It's a film that critisizes religion from the inside and it's all the better for it. Where it really suceeds though is in forcing you to take a deeper look at yourself. "James Journey to Jerusalem" is a smart and perfectly charming movie of wonderful performances with one great ending.

Squandered potential.

From its first minutes, 'James Journey to Jerusalem' promises to be a light, folksy comedy with a deep social critique hidden beneath it. And although it sourrenders to cliches at moments, it delievers a light, charming comedy, not without it's degree of drama and exploration of its characters. The ending by itself, although a bit cheesy, is one of the best I've ever seen and upgrades the film a notch. Despite it's flaws, it's a film I deeply admire and love.
