Like any good music video, what it lacks in honesty it makes up for in style. I like to think it can be appreciated independently of the music, but liking the music certainly helps. The story goes that the studio wouldn't agree to showing an integrated band on film, so Gjon Mili had to put Barney Kessel (the guitarist) in the shadows during the group shots to try to hide his light complexion.

It may not be a real jam session, but it's a damn good recreation of one. The music in this is just electrifying, these are all fantastic musicians at their best. Even for a music video this is one of the most memorable shorts I've seen in a while.

this may be many things, but it's not a "filming of a jam session"

A bunch of jazz musicians playing their instruments well. I don't see the "movie" in this, and since jazz, especially the non-bebop kind, doesn't appeal to me, I got bored a mere two minutes in. I FORCED myself to continue watching after that, but after 4 minutes, I was pretty much done. On the bright side, I have a great new aid for falling asleep!

Moody and stylish black & white photography captures a wonderful jazz performance...you can almost taste the cheap bourbon and cigarettes. Great songs, and I even enjoyed the dancing.

An awesome display of collective talent and style, oozing of bluesy coolness. "I'm on the sunny side of the street."
