a somewhat interesting fantasy romp, that dwindles at times. it does some great special effects, and is taken from a story that is hard to make a bad movie out of. the failings of this movie aren't made up by any of it's successes--so it just ends up being a good one watch, but honestly you'd be better off watching the 2000 version.

Yet another Harryhausen classic I can thank my high school Latin teacher for exposing me to. Medea was a total knockout and the costumes were actually quite lovely.

The giant statue and the fight with the skeletons are the only good things about this ridiculous movie; the golden fleece looks like a dirty piece of wool with tinsel in it.

Severely dated in terms of CGI and the acting is horrendous in parts, but I suppose it's a fun film that all of the family can enjoy.

Strong special effects and a fun story make up for many of the film's flaws. The acting ranges from cheesy to just plain bad and the story is incomplete, but the consistency of those aspects makes it possible to look beyond them and have a good time.

Hard to dislike a film filled with so much unbridled adventure and pioneering special effects. They still look good today, and the film retains some charm, even 50 years later. Granted, it's a simplified retelling of an already straightforward myth, and the action scenes have no choreography or originality to speak of. However, it's still fun, and I give the film bonus points for its visuals and influence.

Simple fun for literally anyone, all ages and cultures, assuming you have a sliver of imaginative spirit.

One thing i've pieced together from all the Greek mythology movies I've seen: Zeus was one catty bitch.

Yet another 'epic' Schneer production that hides the lack of interesting story or acting talent behind great visual effects created by Harryhousen. Maybe it would be different if I saw this by the age of 14, but now I just barely stayed awake. Worth seeing for effects.

If my life was to be filmed in stop-motion photography, I'd travel to the Bayou to learn necromancy so I could resurrect Ray Harryhausen. And then I'd have him add a scene where I fight skeletons.

This is probably my favorite Harryhausen that I've seen to date. This is some of the best stop motion I've ever seen, give me this stuff any day of the abundance of CGI used today. The story is great, as a mythology nerd, this gives me multiple nerdgasms, and each set-piece is as fantastic as the last (although it peeked too soon with Talos). My only criticism is the acting doesn't really hold up today and can be a bit distracting at times. If you have any interest in stop motion, watch this.

I like it. Then again I saw it for the first time when I was 10 or 11. Kind of goofy at times, but its a fun adventure for every one who likes Greek mythology.

Good fun, although a little less exciting than I'd hoped. However, the skeleton fight at the end pretty much makes up for the weaker moments.

A fairly amusing romp. Although the Harryhausen stopmotion still looks kinda nice, and gets away with any flaws it has due to how much charm it has, the rest of the effects can look a bit bad at times and in particular the film can look really dodgy from one shot to another such as the sky shifting from a bold blue to really washed out and lifeless and back from shot to shot. Also the acting is a bit rough as well, but the film kept me fairly well entertained throughout.

Classic Ray Harryhausen fantasy. A must see for any fantasy/scifi geek.
