Writer Cody certainly has a distinct writer's voice: girls r clearly the stars of her stories w/ boys confined 2 the more traditional female supporting roles. She also tries 2 steer clear of the more generic horror cliches, unfortunately that often means jarringly forced tonal shifts btwn "comedy" & horror that only insures neither works. Even worse however is her distractingly unfunny tendency (as she did in the 1st 30 mins of Juno) 2 have teens engage in constant ostensibly "cool" wordplay.

The only movie I have ever walked out of in the middle. Meagan Fox is not a good actress, and this movie had no hope from the beginning.

Big noisy teen horror, more gory than creepy. Doesn't really work as a Rabid style body horror or Jeckyl and Hyde story. Though Fox is suitably 'alien' and Seyfried does well too. The Whedon-esque dialogue is what'll make or break this for you. I enjoyed it.

I guess I have to at least give this film props for having an original idea. It would help if that idea wasn't on the stupid side. This review might be a little biased since I passionately hate Diablo Cody, but it doesn't matter. It's got some pretty nice production value, but overall not enough to be memorable. And the occasional smart line of dialogue is completely overpowered by the wealth of cheezy, poorly placed, annoying-as-hell snarks and quips. Not worth it.

Despite the rather intelligent, rich sub-text the film is not, unfortunately, without its flaws. Jennifer%u2019s Body is a well-intentioned mess of a film; a comedy that never fully raises a chuckle, a satire which indulges clichés whilst challenging some, acquiescing to others, and a horror with no scares beyond a couple of sforzando stabs. Whilst not an abundantly horrible film, its lofty ambitions mean this can be at best be described as a well-intentioned failure. [ Full Review]

Diablo Cody is familiar with the horror genre, she makes this clear by namedropping legends like Argento and Lewis in her script for Juno, but she definitely isn't suited for actually competing with these masters of suspense and gore. In the end, with all its deficiencies, Jennifer's Body is actually a superior horror film than the usual fare we're subjected to, which isn't saying much. I can appreciate the black humor and witty dialogue, but Cody has a long way to mature as a storyteller.

Diablo Cody is tries desperately to capture the quirks of her smash hit Juno, all the while throwing those quirks for an odd little spin through the horror genre. Constantly attempting wit along with horror seems to somehow fall flat.

What little fun that could've sprouted from the premise is squashed by the lack of desire to go far enough. With the recent release of Young Adult, I'm thinking Diablo Cody's writing works best when illuminating the underbelly of normalcy. In this case, she normalizes what should be supernatural and surreal and makes it mundane. Pretty much a bore.

It really wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen, but it wasn't very good at all. I get that they were trying to be comical, but the movie just wasn't that funny, it was boring, and there wasn't a lot of cohesion. There were a couple of decent parts, like when they go to see the band initially. But overall it just lacks. If you want to see a movie with a couple of hot chicks that sucks, just watch a porno instead.

Slightly inconsistent in tone, and Cody still hasn't figured out how to make her made up teen slang dialogue seem all that natural, but overall it's a pretty fun watch and amusing for the most part.

I'm no fan of slasher movies, but this one was quite enjoyable. You can clearly see Diablo Cody's touch in this movie. For good and bad. It definitly has it's moments, but in the end it doesn't quite accomplish what it tries to do.

You either love Diablos style or you hate it. For me it works. The pretentious dialogue reminds me of Tarantino but it's more plain funny and less trying-to-prove-philosopical-banalitys. As a horror movie fan I enjoyed the corny cliches and even got the creeps of the bloody smile of Fox.

Comedy-horror in a high school setting with attempts to write Whedon-style snappy Buffy dialogue. But Cody is no Whedon and it made me realise how much Juno relied on Ellen Paige being able to deliver the goods. Here the same style is given to lesser actors and it falls flat. Fox isn't going to be picking up an Oscar anytime soon but she's noticeably better in this than the Transformers films, and for all its failings this never becomes boring.

I am shocked by how much I enjoyed this. Diablo Cody's lame, try hard dialogue threatens to derail the entire film but everything else really works - Megan Fox and her creepy plastic sexuality, the general intermingling of sex/death/consumption/pleasure, the lesbian subtext of suffocating female friendships (although that could have been developed more), the indie rock band satire. Its fun, unpretentious, escapist fluff with bitchy teenage girls and heaps of blood, loved it.
