Hadn't aged particularly well. Without the benefit of nostalgia, it's full of sound and fury (not to mention terrible CGI), signifying nothing. Robin Williams is OK but given very little opportunity to actually be Robin Williams.

It does what it sets out to do: it's a relatively safe family adventure film. However there's really nothing astounding about. The CGI, which was touted to rival Jurassic Park, simply wasn't as impressive. Yeah, it's fun but I can't see anyone but children wanting to see this more than once.

I remember liking it pretty well as a kid. Fluffy adventure fare with an Indiana Jones / Jurassic Park-inspired whiff to it - not surprising, since Joe Johnston is the epitome of Spielberg Lite. The special effects have aged but were very good at the time. Entertaining for its intended target age.

A bit of Wizard of Oz and a bit of Peter Pan. As a kid I was always very taken by the boom-doom drumming emanating from underground, a sort of primal omen that portends a darker coming-of-age tale than usual. Maybe it's a male thing, Jumanji focuses on the father-son relationship and 'becoming a man' while its female leads are essentially quippy cheerleaders. My main problem is that it never tries to rise above being an effects feature, and in doing so leaves far too much potential on the board.

This movie is mostly just nostalgia to me now. It's well acted and some good campy fun. I can't get past some of the awful CGI, but I don't think it's all suppose to be advanced or anything. It's not a bad movie, it's just nothing special like most of my friends and family make it out to be. Williams is as endearing as he usually is though, and that makes it pretty watchable.

Jumanji might be passable entertainment if you're around the age of 12, but after that, won't you be hoping for a little something more? One character who is more than just a blank slate? A plot that actually ties things together instead of just having an assembly line to shoot out action scenes whenever someone roles the dice? Jumanji was more boring and less intelligent than it should be. A straight adaptation of a picture book is not recommended.

A memorable cinema going experience for me and I've since seen it many times on the small screen. Fundamentally a story about intergenerational tension and indeed interspecies tension. Few could play the man-child quite like Williams. I can still hear the drumming...

Jumanji is a great adaptation of the popular children's book. The story is exciting from start to finish and it is adaptable to all ages. Some of the CG looks pretty outdated but there isn't really anything that can be done about that. It wasn't so bad that it was distracting or anything but the monkeys did look off. The cast of the movie is a high note for the film. Robin Williams is perfect as the kid who never grew up. Bonnie Hunt is always a bright addition to any movie.

It aged very gracefully from the special effects point of view. I don't remember watching it at that time (I was in the in-between age then, too old to watch it as a kid, too young to go to it for cinematic purposes) but I remember the ads from the time; the meaning nature of the Rhinos running in the house is still there. Robin Willians carries the film acting-wise; all-in-all it is a good example of a family movie, they don't do them this well anymore.

True it's a bit inconsistent and objectively not a great film, but after Aladdin it's probably the best family-entertainment Robin Williams vehicle, and I think that's worth a lot more now that we're never getting any more of them. Everyone here seems scared of the spiders but that drumbeat was nightmare fuel for weeks, and I am STILL terrified of the scene with the piano... Kids will probably still love this. Jumanji still 'makes me feel just like a child', and I love it for that, too.

Maybe this is slightly mean, given that, in the mid-'90s, CGI was still in its infancy, but the CGI in this is glitchy and jerky, which, for me, at least, was a distraction. But, perhaps the most negative aspect of the movie is that the characters are very two-dimensional, which makes it nigh impossible to give two hoots about them, a problem that not even the considerable charisma and acting talent of the late, great Robin Williams could remedy.

Robin Williams is legendary actor. Alan Parrish discovers Jumanji, a mysterious and thrilling game. When Alan goes to play it with his girlfriend Sarah, he discovers, too late, that the game has supernatural powers. By an unfortunate roll of the dice, he is sucked into the jungle of Jumanji. There he remains incarcerated for 26 years until he is freed by two unsuspecting children. Together with Judy and Peter, Alan and Sarah, who have now grown up, have to play the game.

A board game with real life consequences, very neat idea for a movie. Even if this movie feels a little corny at times, it's quite enjoyable. I especially like the hunter that comes out of the board game and runs out of ammo so he picks up a new fancy rife to hunt Robin Williams with. Also, poor David Allan Grier's car keeps getting destroyed as a running joke. Young Kirsten Dunst does a great job, I remember falling in love with her when I watched this movie the first time. A good family film.
