Ultimately off-putting. The pregnancy is the means to its end: Michael Cera and Ellen Page serenading each other in front of a suburban lot, neither experiencing a modicum of doubt, regret or sadness. Hey, teen pregnancy isn't so bad after all, home skillet.

There's barely a second that goes by where this self-indulgent film doesn't nag you with its numerous pop-culture references, "quirky" props, pseudo-witty teenage lingo, or the blaring-loud indie acoustic soundtrack. You can almost visualize the producers jerking eachother off as they think of more "hip" gimmicks to pile on to the already-overflowing heap of pretentiousness. Worst of all is the character of Juno herself - she's smug, condescending, annoying, and unlikable. What a load of crap.

The first ten minutes worried me because the dialogue was way too forcedly "hip" and quirky. But it gets toned down as it goes, and most of it is really funny, and there are some hilariously memorable lines. Ellen Page is really damn good at pulling off a character that could otherwise be unlikeable, and I don't think I've ever seen Michael Cera deliver a line badly. My only problem with the movie is that it's entirely too in love with its own "indie" soundtrack. Other than that, great stuff

This movie was written by a partially sentient PlotWrite-a-tron 4000 that saw two episodes of Gilmore Girls, mistakenly thought that is how real people actually communicated, and then spat out some bland story about babies with some added NOT FORCED INDIE QUIRKINESS. Atrocious lines being delivered by snarky people, huzzah. Thanks but no thanks. Or, in Juno language; total no thankerino, like, zippo nada-dude.

Your enjoyment will depend on how much you dig the fantastical approach. Reitman & Cody create a narrative that does as much as humanly possible to avoid the real world choices that many young women in Juno's shoes would go through. Which, in turn, makes this a film so conservative and out of touch that it wound up being one of Sarah Palin's favorite movies. Still if you excuse the fairy tale, and just go for the ride, you could be entertained by the constant zingers.

What can be said about Juno? Forced dialogue, twee songs a plenty and a typically indie cast? Probably, but it's also a very funny and moving story about a girl who takes 'the other route' when it comes to teenage pregnancy. Page is wonderful (again) and Cera does his usual awkward, geeky teenager routine. The rest of the cast are just as good and the music fits in perfectly with the image of the film. Very well done indie flick in my opinion.

Pitifully overrated. The ponderous rave reviews this movie received are beyond explanation and reason. I thought it was a cute little movie, and nothing more. Not particularly necessary. The form and content left much to be desired and the puppy love romance in the midst of a teen pregnancy was a bit sickening. The script went way overboard and desperately claws and scratches at a chance of capturing the lingo of a little annoying and unlikable 13 year old knock up. Cheap shot at originality.

In this wretched world where people talk like bad Pitchfork reviews and twee indie pop bookends every scene, I find myself both charmed and irritated. It's hard to feel antipathy against the superficial elements of the film -- namely the cute, stupid story and the endearing, aggravating characters. However, as soon as you start thinking a bit deeper about what you've just seen the film starts to fall apart. The film clearly trivializes teen pregnancy.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this quirky quick witted teenage girl (Ellen Page) handle her unplanned pregnancy. Jason Bateman was great as the husband and older friend, but I was disappointed to see him develop a crush for her and flake out. Michael Cera is good at playing the clueless teenager. Jennifer Garner was adequate. J.K. Simmons was awesome as the understanding dad. Ellen Page stole the show, and I was left wanting to see more of her and the Juno character.

A really fresh perspective at normally boring and predictive pregnancy movies. This one stands out with an interesting, fun main character (played really great!) and not-so-ordinary plot. The directing and editing of the movie is quite relaxed; the movie has its plotholes, and generally I missed some more response from the boyfriend of Juno, but it was an enjoyable ride.

Juno is the pretty much the first indie dramedy that blew up so big that it became mainstream. It is this movie that we have to thank for a billion others that followed. We can thank Diablo Cody for the retarded, wry sense of hipster humor that plagued us for the following years. To boot, I strongly dislike Michael Cera, Rainn Wilson, Jennifer Garner, and Ellen Page--and not only because of this movie. That makes this an astounding focal point for things that I loathe.

Juno is a funny, and sometimes laugh out loud hilarious film, with a great cast. Ellen Page is phenomenal as a pregnant high school student. I liked a lot of things about this movie, especially Jason Bateman and his uproarious jokes, and awkward tension. But one thing that really made me not like Juno any more was the constant pop culture references. In its entirety, Juno is a fun and unique comedy. Oh, and I am a sucker for J.K. Simmons.

Writer Diablo Cody and Director Jason Reitman seem to be winking at the audience every minute of "Juno," and it's a thriving achievement due to lead actress Ellen Page, a rare find for a young actress - the newcomer doesn't miss a beat. An Oscar nod is most definitely on the way for her, and as for the movie, while it's a bit full of itself- it's also likely one of the best of the year.

Yes, the dialogue is grating, and yes the soundtrack seems like someone stole Zach Braff's iPod, but when it comes down to it this movie explored a lot of themes that standard teen comedies have been avoiding for years: teen pregnancy, lolita complexes, unhappy endings, and a total lack of "poignant lessons-learned" and "coming-of-age revelations." To that end, despite its shortcomings, the film is still heads-and-shoulders above its peers.

Pregnant hipster chick gets knocked up by Michael Cera (who is the same character in every movie he's in). Plus there's a lot of hipster dialog and references to Dario Argento, indie/alternative bands, and hipster clothing which i'm sure the part time stripper-screenwriter Cody culled from her finest internet forum sources. Hipsters everywhere rejoiced with this movie because at long last they were represented by a quirky self validating 16 year old film avatar. Thunderbirds Go!

Feels like it's trying too hard, thanks pretty much completely to Diablo Cody's hip lingo-ridden script. I can't count the number of times I rolled my eyes or sighed at it. Ellen Page plays Juno very well, but the character can be somewhat of a bitch (under the guise of "individuality"). Jason Bateman is good, as is Michael Cera but he doesn't get enough screen time. The movie is made with heart, but the brains are missing. I don't regret watching it, but I can't say I will again.

Slick teen comedies are not a thing I usually go for, and Juno's Caulfieldesque brattiness had every chance of rubbing me wrong, but surprisingly I loved this. The characters really are round, and I don't mean Juno's belly; I found myself caring about every one of them, and I laughed and cried. More power to you, Diablo Cody! And while acting is satisfying across the board, Michael Cera's is a definite highlight. Criticisms of making teen pregnancy cool and of moralizing cancel each other out.

Interminable first 20 minutes or so. Though Diablo Cody claims to know several teens with a bevy of clever retorts when they're on the verge of unwanted pregancy, she's lying. Too cute by half. Also, in real life popular jock types do NOT secretly long for the alternative pregnant girl. They might DO her for a goof but that's it. Anyway, once Bateman and Garner show up we get a wonderful, funny, suprising, sweet but almost-never cloying story. One last thing. Re: Oscar noms -Garner was ROBBED!!!

A while ago I would have given this a 70, but it's grown on me. I don't think the dialogue is as unrealistic as others -- just exaggerated -- and I think it captures the teens who go on the internet really well. I've seen them try to one up each other with things like bands constantly. This is a more realistic film than people say, and it's touching and sometimes funny. It's charming and Ellen Page is convincing in the role, not to mention pretty (it helps).

For the most part, Juno is a good movie. It's oftentimes funny and well acted, it's just a tad too "hip" and high school for my tastes. There's really nothing extraordinary about this movie, and the writing itself goes way too overboard trying to peg the lingo of kids this day and age. I've never met someone in my life who spoke like Juno does who wasn't trying to be ironic. Juno's comedy often falls flat because of this issue. Juno is a renter; Oscar material it is not.

Juno was a film I had heard a lot of positive things about. Sadly I was left disappointed and baffled as to what all the fuss was for. Regardless of how visually attractive Juno is as a piece of filmmaking, ultimately I didn't like, care for or connect with any of the characters and this is where the problems lie. Page is painfully annoying and Cena is his usual dull self. And bar Simmons the supporting cast is weak. But worst of all the script is tragically unfunny and completely unrealistic.

I was concerned the entire movie would have the same "quirky" and "hip" dialog as the first ten minutes, but thankfully it doesn't. There are some other faults, most notably the fact that the film is full of terribly obscure pop-culture references that end up feeling more like a pretentious writer patting themselves on the back rather than writing natural dialog. However on a whole the film works because it's got some honestly funny and entertaining moments that far out weigh the flaws.

This movie gets crapped on for trying too hard to be quirky, but this isn't really a fair criticism of the script, so much as a reflection of its young characters. Juno (the character) does try hard: her hamburger phone is impractical and she gets a lot of references wrong ("Thundercats are go!"). The adult cast anchor the film firmly in reality, all playing honest, well-rounded characters. Bateman and Garner are terrific, while Cera and Page have a certain sweetness. Everything I'd heard about the dialogue and the indie-by-numbers script had me dreading it. And there is some merit to those criticisms. You have to expect a certain degree of forced quirkiness from someone who calls herself "Diablo Cody". But if you take away the Rainn Wilson scene (one of the most painfully overwritten scenes I've ever heard) then it's really just Juno who embodies those characteristics. I often wondered what would've happened if little Joey Potter from Dawson's Creek - (now Mrs. Tom Cruise) - had've gotten knocked-up. Now we know. Neither the plot nor language are relatable to the experiences of most teenage girls who find themselves, "in the family way", but it's Hollywood: nothing has to be real. All that said, Ellen Page is stellar and (most importantly) believeable in her performance, and Jason Bateman is working again. Gotta dig that.

It's not a bad film, and ends up being passable entertainment, but it doesn't have the emotional connection that is required of a great drama film. It has good actors playing interesting characters, but the character of Juno was far more unlikable than she needed to be in order for the audience to feel any sympathy for her. Although the pseudo-indie hipster aesthetic seems disingenuous at best (and pathetic at worst), there's a certain pastoral charm to the dialogue that burns the screen with a coolly detached irony. It's enjoyable at the very least for the self-conscious namedropping and the teenage attitude that you would expect from a girl with a hamburger phone. When it attempts to get serious with the Jennifer Garner subplot it fails in such a cute way. Diablo Cody is so adorable when she thinks she's serious.

One of the brightest, funniest comedies of the year, Juno's smart script and direction are matched by assured performances in a coming of age story with a 21st century twist.

Great characters, great plot, great emotion. The characters are well-developed and the comedy style is top notch. Juno is easy to relate to and very likable.

Sorry, didn't love it! Take away my hipster doofus card if you must, but I thought it was self-conscious and self-indulgent.
