Summary: Ambady (Mohanlal), from the Thacholi warrior family of Kadathanadu, along with his father's old pal & guru Payyampalli Chanthu (Prem Nazir), retrieves the family heirloom Badra sword, which was stolen from them by the Kathiloor family & Kelu of Thulunaadu. But when Ambady also brings back Kelu's niece Sreedevi (Swapna), Chanthu's daughter Kunjulakshmi, who loved Ambady, takes it hard. Kathiloor family exploits the situation & poisons Kunjulakshmi, causing Chanthu to challenge Ambady for a duel. (by iceblox)
