Yosemite Sam was a vaguely annoying character; he yelled real loudly, as opposed to having his actions and dopey personality provide the humor, a la Elmer Fudd. (A far superior comic antagonist) I feel like many of the medieval Looney Tunes shorts were a little boring, with frequently corny and eye-rolling jokes, and this was no exception. Still loosely entertaining, but a pretty average outing by Bugs' standards.
Why is it that this is the Bugs cartoon that finally got an Oscar? (Thanks to Disney and Hanna-Barbera for undeservedly hogging them.) It's visually beautiful, but not particularly spectacular in any other respect.
