Summary: An epic 12-year journey into the brutal and secretive world of Irish Traveler bare-knuckle fighting. This film follows a history of violent feuding between rival clans. (imdb)
It's an interesting story and look into a world I'd otherwise be completely unfamiliar with. But, the de facto protagonist makes this documentary really stand out for me.
Very good documentary about Irish Traveler bare-knuckle boxing matches and the family gangs involved. There's a variety of people who box, some seem somewhat wise and philosophical, going so far as to admit they don't like boxing, while others seem no better than Irish hics (boasting Confederate flags in the background no less). Regardless, as a documentary it's engaging and though the director gets personally involved his thoughts, feelings and biases are laid in plain view for the viewer.
Interesting look into Travellers. It's pretty sad when you think about this massive family torn apart for so long, and the amount of hate. The fights themselves might surprise people who think they're unorganized because they have refs and other rules.
