Ford uses reenactments with actors to illustrate the ways soldiers should interact with the Korean people. The whole movement of the film is to encourage Koreans and Americans to connect with and engage one another in a respectful manner. Much of it comes off as strange or hokey today (like combating prostitution with a 4H club or the soldier ending up with a legit Korean girlfriend), but its intent as a training film in the 50s makes all this somewhat forgivable.
