Summary: Appukuttan (Jayaram), rich do-gooder & strongman of the village of Thamarakulam, affectionately called Appoottan by the villagers, sponsors poor bright girl Ambili (Sruthi) for medical school. Mistaking Ambili's adoration towards him for love, Appoottan starts loving Ambili, but refrains from speaking his mind for fear of disturbing her studies.
