Kramer vs Kramer is a movie with terrific acting from Streep, Hoffman, and most surprisingly, Justin Henry. The first half of the movie that deals with Hoffman's development into a real parent is filled with charming, endearing moments, like when the kid is taught how to ride a bicycle. The first half was the best part of the film, when the film planted its feet on the ground. But, when the courtroom scenes hit, the movie lifts off towards melodrama and a normal Hollywood cop-out of an ending.

it takes a truly amazing drama to blow me away if there are no other genre elements--well this one did it. streep may be somewhat unlikeable but she knows what she's doing, the hoff may be giving his best performance here--it utterly amazing. justin henry really does deserve that nomination he got here, i've never seen a kid handle acting nearly as well as he.

definitivamente é superestimado; não considero um bomtrabalho visualmente falando, e é um erro ter começado a história onde começou (Joanna deixando Ted) e não antes (quando os dois ainda estavam casados, VIVENDO de fato os problemas, ao invés de citá-los... cabeças falantes, como diria hitchcock)

Was surprised by it. Hoffman and justin Henry (!) were super. The part between the moment Streep leaves and the part where she returns I liked the best. I will always remember the shot of 'Billy' sitting on the counter, making french toast for the last time. Great drama.

Socially brilliant. Streep and Hoffman and the child actor are quite brilliant. Lacks some oomph imho.
