The film is slow-paced, with lots of flashbacks. David Carradine had no martial arts training, merely a background in dance. As such, it's amazing that the fights even reach the level of "mildly entertaining" here. It's a step up from the lousy 70s television series though, with the great railroad being built by Chinese immigrants in the desert. The plot and events are simple and predictable, but some of the flashbacks ARE neat, like the training in the Shaolin temple. It's watchable.

Fun and silly. In short, it's what you'd expect from one of Carradine's outings in his signature role of 'Caine'. The script almost entirely consists of nonsensical riddles, most of the fights have what can politely be described as having almost no kung-fu in them at all, the plot is more predictable than Jennifer Aniston's next rom-com, and the constant inappropriately amusing use of slow-motion is just awful. But then all that is part of this movies idiotic charm! Terrible, but brilliant.
