Summary: Shyam (Reghu), who leaves his house after his father re-marries after his mother's death, reaches a mountainside village in search of his uncle Shankunni (Manavalan Joseph). There, he gets a job of driving the horse-cart of local bigwig & womanizer Thampurankutty (Mohanlal). Shyam falls in love with Shankunni's best friend Ganapathi Iyer's (Adoor Bhasi) daughter Meenu (Rohini).
