Rohmer will break me. I can see it coming. I will cry like a baby.

A charming trifle from Rohmer, noted for his appealing relationship comedies.

Between brief moments of great character interaction too much of this film doesn't work. Its a work that suffers from too much dialogue over these small moments of character emotion that work exceptionally. I'll also say, quite controversially, that the film is visually flat - Rohmer's choice of locations in urban areas in 80s France and the countryside is perfect, but the composition of them seems hidden in the background when it should be as important as the character's conversations.

Charming and elegant as usual, Rohmer's filmmaking might not be always delighful, but still manages to be always contundent and genuine.

This really is just like a French Whit Stillman or early Baumbach movie.

I'm kind of split about this. In some regards I didn't enjoy it quite as some of Rohmer's better films, but there are some extremely effective moments and the ending is fantastic.

Watchable, but this is Rohmer's weakest feature, saying very little, and what is expressed has been done so much better, by Rohmer himself.

Rohmer as I like him, deep realistic characters, strong dialogue, genuine emotion and and simple but effective cinematography that captures the natural beauty of life. The film is a nice little story about love and relationships, revolving around a simple little moral. It's wonderfully executed in all aspects and the ending, while a little too tidy, is perfect.
