A quasi noir lead falling for a stunning nameless femme fatale goes off to meet a leather clad bicker chick gang leader who sends him off on a mysterious mission. Then it starts to get weird. It didn't take me long to get sucked into this strange and alluring world and I liked how the film was pretty unapologetic about the confusion it was creating. A fun film that could go up against the best Lynch has to offer and offers up some excellent visuals as a nice bonus.

While interesting, it's too convoluted and aimless to be worthy of the excellence that I've come to enjoy from a Robbe-Grillet picture show.

This film is Robbe-Grillet's insanely surreal and starkly original entry into mythology with classical plots embodied by modern landscapes and underlined by psychosexual and subconscious desires. Like a Robbe-Grillet novel, the film is undeniably like no other and thus very difficult to evaluate. The score it thus receives are based on a likeness approach: As a non-admirer of surrealism, I found the work rather gruelling to experience and only recognised its strengths in retrospect.
