Focuses on an Argentine family over a period of time - days? weeks? - during sweltering heat, and boy do you feel the humidity in this film. Without any of the cartoonish quality Do the Right Thing had with its reds (it works but I've always thought it looked a tad silly) Martel makes the feeling of heat twice as convincing as in the former film. The plot is like some sort of real world The Royal Tenenbaums and though the film is largely in stasis Martel puts a lot of life in to the directing.

I love Chekhov, but he did not come to mind when I saw this. The story and characters just didn't feel as universal as one's in Checkov's work.

Realistic, and beatiful filming. Wonderful in a detached perspective.

Not many movies can portray a total lack of perspective like this one. The viewer is thrown upon a pessimistic portray that actually bothers (a lot) throughtout the entire film...

I liked its free form (lack of ostensible plot) and style, but it should have been better. I don't know how; just better. Guess I'll give it another go.
