One of quite a few films in which Melies establishes a trendsetting precedent -- a movie with all manner of interesting visual effects, but not much of a story or other points of interest. Many filmmakers have followed in his footsteps for over 100 years, unfortunately. Melies has polished his technique, and he seems to be trying harder. This is still pretty damn dull
