The thing that makes this film the most interesting is it's ambiguity. Obviously the movie is about the plague, but at times the plague also seems to refer to how the actual plague affects human nature. Add in some decent performances from William Hurt, Robert Duvall, Raul Julia, and Sandrine Bonnaire and the end result is a good film.
