Summary: Lady Vengeance is the third film from Park Chanwook's revenge trilogy following "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "Oldboy". Lee Geum-Ja, at the age of 19, goes to prison for the murder and abduction of a child on behalf of her accomplice Mr. Baek, only to find out that she is betrayed. While in prison, she carefully prepares for her revenge by winning the hearts of her fellow inmates with her kindness, thus earning herself the nickname 'kind Ms. Geum-Ja.' (imdb)

My least favorite film of the "Vengeance trilogy," Lady Vengeance is still very good, but feels a little too "weird for the sake of weird."

Park is clearly a very talented director, and this film has many great moments, especially musical and visual. However for me the first part was a complete mess, it was damn frustrating with the short takes and overload of information and characters leaving me perplexed. The second part was very good indeed and worth the endeavor, but didn't completely compensate because in the end many things were still unclear to me.

I didn't really find myself enjoying it at times, but I must mention the simple but yet nicely crafted revenge plan I absoluteley adored. Park's look on punishment and revenge presented not only in this film, but throughout the whole trilogy, is interesting in two ways: in the sense of a message and also visually - I liked how ruthless the bad and the 'good' guys are. Despite not ranking them especially high, I recommend the three films to anyone.

Visually stunning. Really. Oftentimes what was happening on screen was so well done that distracted me from the subtitles, and I had to go back. My favourite of the trilogy.

What an emotional rollercoaster. The vivid imagery, combined with great acting all-over and the dark subject matter leads to a daring, fascinating film. The movie slows down for the uncomfortable and haunting finale that feels like a 30-minute punch to the gut. There's so much to admire here, or be (rightly) repulsed by. Fantastic.

A gorgeously frightening bubble-gum horror story whose surprisingly Kubrick visual style overwhelms to a degree - but the narrative turns in the last third, and the acting by the lead, were so brilliant I quickly forgot my little qualms. My favorite of the "trilogy" because of the breadth of places it takes you to.

So much better than the other films of the trilogy that I think this should have been the only one made. I think it would have worked even better for me if the story and themes hadn't seemed so familiar from the previous two entries.

Very interesting to see a woman lead character in a film like this, and she blew me away. In all honesty Lady Vengeance did nothing for me for about the first hour, but when the parents confront the killer, and the scenes that ensue and come before it are job droppingly fantastic and at the same time horrifying. A smart picture that looks beautiful as well. Inferior to Oldboy, but definitely worthy.

Less extreme then the first two films (which isn't to say there's not a fair share of bloody violence and torture, with a little rape thrown in as well), this is definitely the quirkiest of the trilogy. What starts out as a fairly straight ahead revenge story transforms into a thematically rich tale of redemption.
