Summary: Cleveland Heep, a stuttering apartment superintendent, encounters a girl named Story swimming in the complex's pool. He soon learns that she comes from the Blue World, and has a message for mankind. Will he be able to help her complete her mission?
The plot and main idea are good, and I've felt interested in the main characters, but some points are so absurd and unbelievable that one is slapped out the film at moments. It's well done and the music is gorgeous, but the screenplay should have much more work, specially with support characters and their relation and reaction to events, it relies too much in a completely understanding spectator, like a child, that he shouldn't expect.
It's sort of a fictional story about why stories are the way they are, uses story devices as part of the storyline, very interesting and kind of cool, I'd recommend this to couples who want a movie they'll both enjoy, love it, LOVE IT
Good idea, poorly developed. No one can deny M. Night's imagination, but his execution usually leaves something to be desired, and this is no exception. What an ego to cast himself as a savior though, good lord. Giamatti really carries this thing by himself.
The first real sign that Shyamalan's career was going awry. Terribly self-indulgent to the point that it reminds you of Lucas' new STAR WARS movies. This serves perhaps as a reminder that artists usually don't perform well, when they have total freedom to do whatever they want.
