Brooding and impeccably paced. Shot like a silent, with some great camera movements and among the absolute coolest credits sequence I'm aware of - the names appear at the bottom third during the actors' first shots. It's well-written, well-acted (who knew Buster Crabbe had it in him?), and well-shot, and unlike so many of these oaters, it has heart and style.

"Law of Vengeance" is a dark and interesting old western. It starts like a lot of classic pictures and appears to be heading in the direction of a morality tale, but then comes the forbidden romance that fuels the fued to a tragic end. In addition to all the action there are a couple of somewhat haunting images I didn't expect, and overall I thought this was a great movie with a great cast; Shirley Temple even sneaks her way in there for a little bit.
