I have so much love for this film. It does an amazing job at portraying a regular family and its struggles and it shows how people deal with their issues. What is really amazing is how while watching it you are laughing and the next moment you're almost crying. The whole cast is on point too. The only thing I would have left out is the very last scene, but everything else is pure perfection.

If this movie was an advertisement for Lipton tea, I would understand it. Showing us the most nostalgic moments of a family's life would then work, you would only need to add: "All these moments are good, but are even better with a cup of Lipton tea".

This film deals in universal issues of love, life, death and family that anyone can relate to. The lives of the protagonists are painted in such vivid detail, and their escapades are so emotionally fulfilling, that it creates an immersive experience which seems almost hyper-real. Huge credit to Bezonçon and all the cast for making such a satisfying coming-of-age movie, in fact five movies in one. Finally a modern French family is portrayed on the big screen, no holds barred. Great music too.

A french "Parenthood". I should have hated this - it's very "Hollywood" for a French film: all the actors are good-looking, they live in a huge house, the filmmaking style is super slick. But I really liked it, it made me laugh a lot, and it warmed my bitter old heart.
