A rather depressing movie which performs the neat trick of turning the charismatic John Lennon into a guy lacking any charm whatsoever.

Eccleston's Lennon is so hard to like that it makes the piece feel rather like a hatchet job -- or rather, it would if the same couldn't be said for everyone else on screen. The script is average and the acting is never less than so-so, but ultimately this is a hard and not particularly enjoyable watch that never quite manages to grab your attention the way it probably should.
