Interview segments are interesting, cover versions range from passable to terrible (looking at you, Rufus), both are interspersed seemingly at random. All in all not unpleasant to watch, but a very pedestrian effort.

I terribly wanted this to be good. The live performances are brilliant in many cases. Leonard Cohen is amazing, as are many of the things he says. Unfortunately, the director is not. And it shows. It's very sad that someone who gained access to make this project did not have enough insight to make it right. Still, the performances make it worth watching & I'm addicted to the soundtrack.

It's great whenever Cohen himself is speaking. The tribute performances are good, although I felt like I was always waiting for them to end so we could hear more from Cohen. Regardless if you're at all interested in Leonard Cohen you should check this out.

Cohen's work is wonderful. Unfortunately, this film is not.

M: 40/100 S: 40/100 Mike: Interviews with L. Cohen were great; absolutely wonderful. Concert mostly offensively bad garbage. Sophia: Agreed Leonard is such an interesting character with wonderful, interesting things to say about the writing process and his life and career. The covers of his songs were horrible. I'm sorry to break it to Rufus Wainwright but "Everybody Knows" does not benefit from being turned into a showtune, in fact, it's awful.
