"Hilarious" is clearly an overstatement here.

Pretty neat

This bout of Melies' early-cinema surrealism -- dubbed The Hilarious Posters for reasons unknown -- isn't particularly fetching, largely as a result of technological limitations that prevent the theme from being worked quite so smoothly, but also because of the pure pointlessness of it all. It's watchable but decidedly unspectacular.

An idea that has been done much, much better by later films. Not particularly funny, and the ending is just dumb
