This bout of Melies' early-cinema surrealism -- dubbed The Hilarious Posters for reasons unknown -- isn't particularly fetching, largely as a result of technological limitations that prevent the theme from being worked quite so smoothly, but also because of the pure pointlessness of it all. It's watchable but decidedly unspectacular.
