What should be a deeply personal autobiography is undermined by the decision of the director to present the footage as it is without any sound, resulting in a boring film that was a struggle to get through. Considering that I was watching Jean Seberg bare her soul in the rawest of ways, that fact that I struggled through the film out of boredom makes me angry at the director for what I feel is a complete botch.

It might be a bit better if you can lip read. But come to think of it why should I be hanging on every word some actress is saying? I mean she could be talking about hanging out the washing for all we know.

Intensely intimate. The film creates this overwhelming feeling of isolation, of solitude, of being unable to communicate. We see characters talking, sometimes getting emotional as the words tumble out, yet we hear nothing - their hopes and dreams, fears and thoughts are locked inside them with only the movements of their face letting us in to their world. It has a ghostly quality, emphasised by Seberg's untimely death. The penultimate image is one of profound hope in a sea of pain and longing.
