Summary: A cop chases two hippies suspected of a series of Manson family-like murders; unbeknownst to him, the real culprits are the living dead, brought to life with a thirst for human flesh by chemical pesticides being used by area farmers. (imdb)

Seriously good--and overlooked--zombie film that also includes some unintentional humor and some fantastic gore.

Another Early zombie film. This one with anti-war undertones.

a sort of classical approach to a zombie movie, borrowing very little from romero but instead going for a more slow-burning atmospheric style of horror with fewer, more dangerous zombies. it's not the most amazing film, but it's a bit unique and certainly better than most of the italian zombie films coming out at the time.

Yes, a shameless NOTLD ripoff, but it's pretty together.

Exquisite, atmospheric living dead flick. A slow burning anomaly in the sub-genre, it's possible that it will fly straight over the tiny heads of you gorehounds who were weaned on Romero-remakes. But then... "you're all the same, the lot of you, with your long hair and faggot clothes! Drugs, sex, every sort of filth! And you hate the police, don't you?" (Yeah, this film kicks some ass).

Surprisingly effective zombie film, with the stark countryside sets and hazy daylight providing an unusually eerie atmosphere. A few tasty gore scenes as well.

In the midst of a lot of Euro zombie schlock being churned out in the 70s, Spanish director Jorge Grau stepped up and made a movie that was competently directed, well acted, well paced, and pretty scary. It's not the best zombie film, but it's near the top of the list.

Great low budget zombie flick from the mid-70s...short on gore but long on tension and chilling atmosphere. Builds up slowly to a nicely frantic finale...a couple of quality corpsefeasting scenes, but this could've been awesome with a few more undead shambling about. Still highly recommended.

Claustrophobically shot, and with a couple of actors (Arthur Kennedy as the cop and Ray Lovelock as the "hero") at least trying, but it's paced rather "waveringly" and the script is rather poor (although it offer some humorous lines, often addressing social and political issues). The ending at the hospital is pretty savage, and the film is throughout bleak as hell, but, as said, the pace is very problematic. I was not enjoying this.

Stylish zombie film with very interesting characters. i actually found the onset part of the film more fun than the zombie gore finale. Good choice for midnight screening.

A decent slower-paced zombie film. Roy Lovelock is good in the lead role, and the countryside locations are well shot. The actual zombie scenes are somewhat lacking in tension, but overall it's an enjoyable film.
