Summary: A compelling drama that explores the different meanings of being a parent through the gritty, realistic lives of the struggling, blue-collar Porter's, and the privileged Campbell family. Their lives intersect, intertwine and collide, all for the love of a little boy. I liked the even handed way this film was presented.They show both sides of the story and let us draw our own conclusions about who is more fit to raise this boy.The ending falls into the typical trap of having to have a nice bow-tied ending to make you feel good.If they had just let the adopted parents escape with the boy I would have rated this film higher.

Overall Enjoyment: 15/40, Plot/Themes: 10/20, Cinematography/Direction: 10/20, Acting/Writing: 10/20 While the ethical question the story poses is thought-proving, the film does not really present it in a truly neutral light, which creates a one sided picture and a much less interesting film. Acting and cinematography were standard, and I don't see much reason to ever re-watch it.
