"With a melodramatic score that alternates between sad violin and romantic guitar, and repetitive reaction shots of Lorca and Dalí in all their dreamy-eyed longing, Little Ashes is broadstroked filmmaking at its most tedious." - Lauren Wissot

Interesting performace by Edward *cough* I mean Robert Pattinson, especially after he really started to lose it. Nice ending.

Goslett and Morrison ask us to take an interest in three pretentious students in post-WWI Spain on the grounds of what their names are. Inasmuch as all three are dark young men of similar age, it would be difficult to tell them apart if one of them, Dalí, were not Pattinson, easily distinguishable as the teen vampire of _Twilight_, and did not wear ruffled cuffs and collar. Cognoscenti might get an occasional chuckle out of it as long as they don't mind the air of condescension.

I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed this movie. At first, I was unsure, but it drew me in as it went along. During the first half of the movie, I kept thinking, "That's Robert Pattinson. That's Robert Pattinson. That's Robert Pattinson." But, I suddenly realized I had completely forgotten it was Robert Pattinson (aka Edward Cullen) and just saw crazy Salvador Dali. Being a big Pattinson fan, this says something about his performance. Very convincing. Interesting story.
