A very sharp, creative, hectic and darkly comic depiction of the filmmaking process. Every few scenes it veers in a completely unexpected direction, and thanks to some crafty editing the whole film just blows right by. You really feel the tension on set, but also become familiar with some very passionate characters on a more personal level, and the ending is a nice bit of fleeting relief.

A great movie about making movies. Really shows you the frustration involved in putting together a film, which is like a child in the eyes of the crew, particularly in the eyes of the director. All of the characters are great.

Decent, nothing special. It's not very funny but it is pretty real. I really liked Mulroney and Buscemi in this. Also, Keener needs to shave her pits.

Steve Buscemi is great as a director of an independent film. The supporting cast is also really good, especially Catherine Keener. I would especially recommend this to anyone who has ever been involved in low budget film or theatre.

A darkly funny look at the highs and (mostly) lows of low-budget filmmaking. Particularly strong on the inner fears and ego-bruises of creative people. And Keener is luminous.

Interesting idea and good individual scenes, but the story is quite poor as a whole. Buscemi shines in the lead as always.

Really neat idea that one might think would get boring, but surprisingly has a lot of legs... Buscemi is really good in this, and the story is unpredictable. Decent.

One of the funniest films about filmmaking ever made. It may go on a little long, but the sheer relatability of the onset situations (boom in the shot!) would make me remiss to not give it an 80. Also, Catherine Keener's naked breasts. Let's make that an 81.

Very funny and clever, with great performances. A gem of a movie which, last I checked, didn't make much money at all. Which is a shame, there's a movie like this with actual ideas and concepts that makes nothing and then there's Epic Movie.

Right from scene 1 I could tell this was going to be brilliant. The portrayal of the endless frustrations and compromises of a low-budget film shoot is caricaturish, but also gloriously true to some real life experiences I have had. Film world outsiders can learn just how hard it is to make a film by watching this, and us insiders can laugh about the process. The performances are also superb across the board, particularly Steve Buscemi and Dermot Mulroney. DiCillo is a very underrated director.

Too many eye-rolling music cues and when the attention is off Buscemi/Keener, I couldn't care less. I barely laughed but the idea to this is interesting enough. Great opening.

Fine performances by a good cast in an enjoyable movie about the travails of low-budget filmmaking. Catherine Keener in particular, who is usually great, did extremely well: sometimes she had to act likes she's acting poorly, other times she had to act like she's acting well, and still other times had to act likes she's acting terrifically. Doesn't seem like that would be an easy task, but she was superb.

I loved the concept of a B&W film about filmmaking that showed the film-within-the-film in color, but that's dumped early on. LeGros was a fantastic foil to Buscemi but we didn't get that for long either. The hip-hop boom guy is a complete misfire, as are the romantic plots. It should be the job of a comedy of frustrations to escalate throughout, and that doesn't happen. This is a film not just small but simple. There are chuckles to be had but I was definitely left wondering, "Oh, Is that all?"
