This is one that I just wish were a little better so I could get behind it. George Axelrod's scabrous satire takes a howitzer to 60s teen culture and consumerism, among other things. I found it more unsettling than funny (the father/daughter cashmere sweater scene, in particular), and as befits a movie whose tagline is "an act of pure agression" it's easy to tell where the movie is anti-, just not where it's pro.

I run hot and cold on this very odd duck of a movie. It's kind of the movie equivalent of a frat rock song -- or the Boomer version of HEATHERS. Possibly McDowall's greatest role. Seriously. Some of the comedy falls flat, but there's a compelling (platonic) relationship at the core of the story, and Roddy's skewering of school authority figures is great fun to watch.
