Summary: During a routine case in L.A., NY private investigator Harry D'Amour (Scott Bakula) stumbles over members of a fanatic cult, who are waiting for the resurrection of their leader Nix (Daniel von Bargen). 13 years ago Nix was calmed down by his best trainee Swann (Kevin J. O'Connor). In the meantime Swann is advanced to a populary illusionist like David Copperfield and is married to the charming Dorothea ("Goldeneye"-Bond girl Famke Janssen).(imdb)

Horror, a weak genre to begin with is hard to make well. This is pretty well made.

Interesting ideas, lots of potential, but mostly squandered by bad pacing and unnecessary subplots.

Sure, no one has a mind quite like Clive Barker's, and I respect that, but let's call a spade a spade: it's dreadfully boring.

A decent horror flick that is very obviously a Barker-centric production. I think he got the mix right on this one, though, combining plausible characters, believable performances, decent suspense, and his own trademark visuals. Say what you will about Bakula, but this is a movie you'll want to finish once you start.

Not a bad turn by Scott Bakula. Although a bit over the top, the fish-out-of-water feel of the Quantum Leap actor falling into this cult is kind of interesting and fun.

Brilliant horror/fantasy from Clive Barker. One of the most original and effective movies of the 90s in this genre. Absolutely not to be missed. I want a whole series of "Harry D'Amour, Occult P.I." films

Pretty effective horror film makes one wish that Barker would continue to direct. This and Hellraiser make one realize just how great a horror director he could be.

Scott Bakula is awesome in this. The effects are pretty good, particularly at the end. It's a Clive Barker movie. That's really all that needs to be said.

Barker's 3rd directorial effort shapes up as a mostly successful fusion of the horror and noir genres that plays better in its longer, unrated video form. It boasts its share of legit shocks.
