This one won't tell you much you don't already know, but it gives a nice look at the true irrationality of those who gamble without realizing that it's a losing proposition. When probed, people will often cop to the fact that they're not likely to win, but they'll stop one step short of admitting that they're being irrational. It is of course a complete failure of deduction to think you can win at roulette. If you could win at it in the long run, the casino wouldn't be letting you do it.
As a poker player, I can say one thing - these people are sick! They should find a better pastime activity, and use their money on something better. Not very informative, because it just confirms the saying that gambling is an addiction. But it was interesting to see the people who are loosing all that money and their views.
Not Louis' best subject of examination. Even though I don't gamble myself I don't really consider it outside the mainstream and the concept of "high-rollers" losing tons of money isn't an alien concept like some of Louis' other interviewees. Still he meets up with some very colourful characters which make for, if nothing else, an entertaining documentary, especially if you're a Theroux fan.
Low on insight, high on watchability. There's something about this dry brit being tossed into the most decadent of cities that kept me watching & enjoying.
This is the second Theroux documentary I've seen and like the other one it wasn't very insightful or eye opening but it was entertaining and easy to watch. That old woman was a disgusting human being. So glad that I don't gamble, what a bunch of morons.
