Normally, Theroux's style of interviewing is to allow people perceived as crazy or outcasted to give their surprisingly intelligent and honest account. In this documentary, that method seems much harder for Theroux as the family of this church appear so far up their ass with their hugely stubborn values, no matter how much objectively portrayed they are, they still come across as rude, hypocritical, oblivious, unreasonable jackasses. It's fun to watch Theroux point out their contradictions.

Not as personal as the first documentary, but still pretty interesting. The WBC are fucking hilarious, but I almost admire how passionately they believe they're right.

Louis's dry style has always worked great when documenting the other side of society. But the recursive nature of the Phelps makes what should be remarkable at times a little too ordinary. Sure, they're loud, but they're no difference from your normal cult domineered by an abusive patriarch.

Do not feed these trolls Louie! One docu about them is enough, not that they have many unusual things to say.

Not nearly as good as the first doc about this fucked up family but still not too bad either. No new insights on the family just Louis doing his thing. My favorite part is when Louis pulls up in a minivan and walks out like a pimp swangin' meth. Possibly one of the only people on the planet that can make minivans cool. Also, is it wrong that I find almost all of the Phelps' women attractive? Dibs on Grace.

Theroux's return to the Westboro Baptist Church sees the group becoming even more of a paranoid cult: expelling any members they feel aren't 100% with the program, and now only giving pre-approved stock answers to every question. Unfortunately the documentary ends up feeling a bit like the Phelps: the (ever more offensive) sensationalism of the church becomes tiresome and the monotonous spoutings of its members even more so. Like attention-seeking children, ignore them and they'll go away.
