Despite a few moments that manage to penetrate a little deeper into this subject, there is nothing too surprising here. And the subject is rather unpleasant.

There are plenty of ethical concerns, but only ones that involve the specific nature of this form of hunting. Theroux doesn't examine these concerns however, and instead just takes the boring liberal hand-wringing approach.

Documentaries like this makes me disgusted of 'civilized' humanity. If hunters consider themselves 'super predators', that means that human is just another species. So that means that either human life is overrated, or animal life underrated. How about cross-bowing some nice family through their lungs at their dinner table? Sounds like fun sport! This time Louis seemed unprepared for the arguments of the hunters and the breeders, and his moral stance seemed very weak.

Like the sport itself, most of this documentary fails to feel "real." It lacks importance, and there is very little to which a non-hunter can relate. Only when Theroux asks the same question too many times and a sable breeder reveals his true feelings do we see a glimmer of reality amongst the artificiality of it all. That moment is an absolutely epiphanic one, but it doesn't redeem an otherwise uninteresting film.

Private game farms is something I honestly didn't know about until this documentary. At first glance it seems very odd to "hunt" in areas specifically prepared to ensure you get a kill, by strategically placing a perfect sniping area right by the only animal water source, you can clearly see that some people do get a thrill out of it and are willing to pay top dollar to hunt game in this manner. Oddly enough some endangered species are only alive in these farms expressly to be hunted.
