I probably watched the worst print possible of this film, and may need to rewatch it, but it was still bad. It is exceptionally dull, aside from one or two inspired moments, feeling less like a biopic and more like Dennis Hopper in period garb running around Australian (?) woodland for 100 minutes, which was not as enjoyable as it sounds. The production of the film was far more interesting than the results.

Terribly paced. We're introduced to Dennis Hopper, then there's an attack at his camp, then he tries to rob someone, then he goes to jail, then he gets raped, then he's out of jail again, then he meets David Gulpilil... I swear all of this happened in about 15 minutes. There's some fun to be had with Dennis Hopper's Irish accent, and the stories of his antics behind the scenes are fun, but really it's a frustrating, uninteresting film.

Not much here, really. The only memorable thing about it is how way-out-there violent it is for a nonhorror film of this vintage
