Gable somewhat miscast. And the lengthy sob-story prologue was a bit much. But Powell and Loy provide a fitting debut here for their ongoing role as arguably the screen's greatest couple (and of course it was interesting to see them do drama). Thought it would've been better off without the last few minutes; I expected Powell walking down the jail corridor to be the last shot of the film. Oh yeah, and the blonde ditzbrain was quite funny.

Typical well-made studio film of the mid-thirties. As usual, "One Shot" Woody Van Dyke keeps things moving along.
