Not one of best documentaries by Wiseman but still fascinating. What makes this look at mock manoeuvres of NATO forces distinct is that, despite being real, it feels at time dreamlike, not only because it was filmed on physical celluloid [the print I saw was damaged in places but at the same time added to the subject] but also that the woodland locations are almost completely silent throughout the film except for the wind and an occasional tank trundling amongst the cow pastures.
